This 1988 article in the German newsweekly "DER SPIEGEL" deals with the end of production of the Fiero and attributes it to weak performance, bad press due to the engine fires, competition from the Toyota MR2 and high insurance rates.

A sports car for less than 14.000 USD when new? Not a problem with a Fiero :-) I bought my Fiero from the original owner in 1994.
My Fiero naked!
When my Fiero got a new yellow paintjob in 1998, all body panels came off. Here's the sexy and probably illegal pic of a completely naked (at the time) 11 year old :-)
